One sunny day, in a bright little town, a girl named Ruth decided to play with her friends. "Let’s play hide-and-seek!" she shouted. Her friends smiled and nodded. But Ruth never said please or thank you. Friends felt sad and whispered, "Ruth, please be nice!"
Ruth ran around the park. She hid behind a big tree. Her friend, Sam, found her. "You found me!" Ruth yelled without being polite. Sam frowned and said, "Ruth, we need to use good words like 'thank you' when we play!"
Surprised, Ruth asked, "What do you mean? I just want to play!" Sam waved his hands and explained, "Using good manners makes everyone happy! We want to share fun times, right?" Ruth scratched her head, not sure what to think.
The next day, Ruth saw her friend Mia at the swings. Ruth wanted to swing first. Instead of saying, "I want to swing!" she said, "Please, Mia, can I swing first?" Mia smiled, her eyes shining like stars, "Of course, Ruth! Thank you for asking nicely!"
Ruth couldn’t believe how good it felt to use nice words! She swung high and laughed. "Whee! This is so much fun!" she shouted. Suddenly, she saw another friend, Leo, trying to climb the slide.
Ruth rushed over, feeling excited. "Hey, Leo! Want to play on the slide with me?" she asked kindly. Leo grinned and replied, "Yes! But remember to say please if you want to go first!" Ruth nodded, ready to try her best.
As days passed, Ruth learned manners. She always said please and thank you. One day, she found a lost puppy. "Oh no! We need to help him!" she exclaimed. She remembered how to ask for help. "Can you help me save this puppy?" she said to her friends.
They gathered around, smiling. Sam said, "Of course! We can help!" Ruth felt proud. They all worked together to find the puppy’s home and made sure to be polite to everyone they met.
At the puppy's home, Ruth knocked on the door. She said, "Excuse me, ma'am, is this your puppy?" The lady smiled brightly, "Yes! Thank you for bringing him back!" Ruth beamed, feeling warm inside.
That evening, Ruth sat with her friends. "Being polite is fun!" she said. Her friends cheered, "Hooray for manners!" From then on, Ruth and her pals shared kindness everywhere, making their town a happier place.
