The night was still and quiet, as I lay snug in my bed. Suddenly, I heard a soft whisper, "Shhh, don’t wake the child!" It was the Tooth Fairy! I peeped from under my covers, just in time to see her sparkly wings fluttering near my nightstand. She reached for my tooth, but fumbled—OH NO! It tumbled, it toppled, then bounced down below. She gasped and dove after it—quick as a flash, then—THUD! Off the nightstand, a thunderous crash!
With glitter-stained fingers, she dusted her dress and smoothed out a note—a crumpled-up mess. She grinned as she placed it, her job nearly done, but little she knew of the chaos to come. Just then, she froze, wide eyes meeting mine as she wrinkled her nose. Her face flashed with shock, wings flailing askew, a flurry of pixie dust trailed as she flew. She hovered so near, I could hear the quick thrum of her heart. Her fingers were nimble—so tiny, so spry—she twirled a loose curl with a spark in her eye. She gently shushed me, both of us bathed in golden glow, and whispered, “Don’t fret—I’m just here for your tooth!” I nodded, enchanted and dazzled by truth. With a smile, she fluttered, then vanished from view—a shimmer, a flicker, and out into the night, she flew.
