Once there was a shepherd boy, full of cheer. He loved to play tricks, all the villagers near. He watched over sheep, so fluffy and white, But soon he grew bored, and sought some delight.
"Hey! A wolf! Come quick, it's here!" he cried. The villagers rushed, with fear in their stride. But when they arrived, there was nothing at all, Just the boy laughing, with sheep by the wall.
Once again he cried, with laughter so loud, “A wolf! A wolf!” He felt so proud. The villagers came, their faces all frown, But the boy just giggled, as they turned around.
Then one day for real, a wolf came to chase. The boy shouted loudly, in a panic, in haste. But the villagers thought it was just another game, They shrugged and went home, feeling quite lame.
The wolf came closer, with eyes full of glee. He eyed all the sheep, as hungry as he could be. The boy ran in fright, his heart full of dread, But no one believed him, they all shook their heads.
The big, bad wolf took a sheep with a snap, The boy learned his lesson, and fell in a flap. He cried out for help, but nobody would care, Because when he cried wolf, he was never quite there.
From that day onward, the boy learned to be true. To think of his words and the things that he’d do. Lying is easy, but the truth is the key, To be trusted by others, and live happily free.
The villagers noticed, the boy's change of heart. He was honest and kind, a fresh brand new start. They forgave him his pranks, for he’d finally grown, And he watched over sheep, not feeling alone.
Now every time he plays, he thinks before he speaks. The lessons he's learned, are the wisdom he seeks. For the boy who cried wolf, now knows to be wise, With honesty shining, like stars in the skies.
So remember this tale, it’s a story to tell, Be honest and true, and all will be well. Don't trick and deceive, just be who you are, And your heart will shine brightly, like a beautiful star.
