Once upon a time, in a bright little town, there lived a girl named Emmy. "I have something to say!" she would shout, interrupting everyone. One sunny day, her friends were talking about their favorite animals. "I love dogs!" said Lily. But before Lily could finish, Emmy exclaimed, "But I like cats more!"
One morning, Emmy went to the park with her friends. There were swings, slides, and even a big sandbox. Her friend Max said, "Look at the big slide!" But Emmy quickly chimed in, "I want to go first!" Her friends frowned, feeling a little sad.
As they played, Emmy interrupted again, shouting, "I want to be the queen of the sandbox!" Max sighed and said, "But we were building a castle together, Emmy. Can you wait your turn?" Emmy didn't listen. She jumped right in and made a mess.
Suddenly, a wise old owl perched on a tree spoke up. "Emmy, dear, it’s important to wait your turn. When you listen, everyone gets a chance to talk and play!" Emmy blinked and thought for a moment. She wanted to be a good friend, but she didn’t know how.
That night, Emmy’s mom read her a bedtime story about a little girl who listened and shared. "Remember, Emmy, good manners make you a great friend!" Emmy nodded, dreaming of being kind and patient, not just loud and fast.
The next day at the park, Emmy saw her friends again. This time, when Lily said, "I love puppies!" Emmy took a breath and waited. When Lily finished, Emmy smiled and said, "Me too! Let’s play with them!" Her friends cheered, glad Emmy listened.
As they played, Max said, "Let’s make a big sandcastle!" Emmy waited and clapped her hands, saying, "Great idea! I want to help!" They worked together, giggling and sharing ideas until their castle was the best in the park.
Emmy felt proud. She realized that waiting her turn and listening made playing much more fun. When someone else spoke, she said, "Oh, I can’t wait to hear your idea!" Her friends smiled, feeling happy to share. "Thanks for waiting, Emmy!"
From that day on, Emmy remembered the wise owl's words. She learned that taking turns and saying please and thank you made her a wonderful friend. And every day, she practiced her new manners with joy!
In time, Emmy became known as the best friend in town. Everyone loved to play with her. And every time she heard the wise owl, she smiled, remembering to listen and wait, just like a true friend should.
