Beau was a cheerful boy from Long Beach, California. He loved numbers and letters more than anything. One day, his mother said, "Pack your bags! We are going to visit Grandpa in Egypt!" Beau jumped with joy. He couldn’t wait to see the big pyramids and learn about the ancient land where his grandfather lived.
When Beau arrived in Egypt, he saw tall pyramids shining in the sun. His grandfather, a kind Egyptian man with a white beard, welcomed them with a warm smile. "Hello, my little mathematician!" he said, lifting Beau up high. Grandpa showed them the old papyrus where letters were written long ago, and Beau was amazed.
They went to the market to taste delicious Egyptian food. Beau’s grandfather bought some sweet dates and spicy falafel.
Grandpa threw some dates, and Beau counted them loudly, 'One, two, three, four!' It was fun to hear number games in the bustling market where colors danced everywhere.
One evening, Grandpa told stories about the stars shining over the pyramids. "In Egypt, we believe the stars are the spirits of our ancestors, guiding us," he said. Beau listened with wide eyes. He loved hearing about the old stories just as much as he loved his numbers!
Before going back to America, Beau picked a papyrus plant to take home. "This will remind me of you and your stories!" he said. Grandpa smiled, knowing their cultures would always connect through love, letters, and numbers.
