One sunny day, a little red hen found some shiny wheat seeds. She was so excited! "I will plant these seeds," she said with glee. The sun was bright, and the sky was blue, perfect for planting something new.
The little red hen called her friends, a lazy cat, a sleepy dog, and a noisy duck. "Will you help me plant the seeds?" she asked with a big smile. But her friends just yawned and said, "No, not today! We want to play instead!"
So the little red hen planted the seeds all by herself. She dug in the dirt, sowed each seed with care, and watered them gently. She watched the sprouts grow tall, feeling proud of her work, with a heart full of love.
Days passed, and soon the wheat was golden and ripe. The little red hen said, "Time to harvest!" She called her friends again, but they still just wanted to nap and play. "No, not now!" they said, turning away.
The little red hen harvested the wheat all by herself. She bundled it up carefully and smiled at her shiny treasure. "I will make some bread!" she cheered, skipping happily back to her cozy home.
She ground the wheat into flour, mix, mix, mix. She added water and made dough, her tail feathers in a twist! She kneaded and shaped it, then put it in the oven. The smell of fresh bread filled the air!
Her friends woke up with sniffing noses, feeling very hungry. The lazy cat, the sleepy dog, and the noisy duck came running fast. "Can we have some bread, dear hen?" they asked, their tummies rumbling at last.
The little red hen smiled and said, "Did you help me plant? Did you help me gather? Did you help me bake?" They all shook their heads and felt quite sad. They learned their lesson, and it made them mad.
With a twinkle in her eye, she took a big slice. "I made this bread, so I will have it nice! But you may help me next time, my friends, to share the work and have fun till the end!"
From that day on, the cat, dog, and duck all worked together with their friend, the little red hen. They learned that hard work and sharing is sweet, just like the lovely bread that they could all eat!
