It was a beautiful morning for Mrs. Mary because it was her birthday! The sun was shining brightly, and birds sang sweetly outside her window. She stretched and smiled as she got ready, feeling excited about her special day. Her cat, Whiskers, purred softly at her feet, joining in the celebration of the morning. Everything felt perfect and filled with warmth.

Meanwhile, Mr. Tan was deep in thought. His friend Mrs. Mary had a birthday, and he wanted to give her the best gift! He wanted her to be happy, and that made him smile. After a moment of pondering, he had an idea! 'I will give her a beautiful rose,' he exclaimed, clapping his hands together with joy.
Mr. Tan hurried to the flower shop to find the prettiest rose. He knew Mrs. Mary loved purple, so he bought a lovely white rose. 'I will paint it purple!’ he declared. However, as he returned home, he realized he had accidentally bought blue paint instead of purple! His heart sank a little as he scratched his head, wondering what to do next.
As Mrs. Mary walked through the garden on her way to Mr. Tan's house, he panicked. Just then, a lightbulb went off in his head! 'What if I mix the colors?' he thought brightly. He hurried to get some red paint too. After a quick mix of the red and blue paints, a glorious purple appeared in front of him! He laughed with relief and painted the white rose until it was the perfect shade.
When Mrs. Mary arrived, Mr. Tan held out the beautiful purple rose with a big smile. 'Happy Birthday, Mrs. Mary!' he cried. Mrs. Mary’s eyes sparkled with happiness. 'This is the most beautiful gift!' she beamed, feeling as happy as a lark.
