One sunny morning, a rabbit named Ruby boasted, "I can run faster than anyone!" A wise turtle named Tommy replied, "Let's have a race!" Ruby giggled, "You? You are so slow! But sure, let’s see who wins!" They set a start and finish line under a big tree. The animals gathered to watch, excited for the fun!
As the race began, Ruby dashed ahead, laughing, "I’m the fastest! Look at me go!" Tommy took his time, moving steadily. Halfway through, Ruby saw a comfy patch of grass and thought, "I have plenty of time!" So, she lay down to nap. But Tommy kept moving, little by little, until he crossed the finish line before Ruby could wake up! The crowd cheered, and Ruby learned that slow and steady can win the race.
Ruby rubbed her eyes and saw Tommy celebrating with the other animals. She felt a little sad but also happy for her friend. "Congratulations, Tommy," Ruby said with a smile. "You really are amazing!" Tommy grinned and said, "Thanks, Ruby! Remember, it's not about how fast you start, but how steady you go!"
The animals clapped and cheered for both racers. Ruby realized that it was fun to race, but it was even more fun to share the joy with friends. "Let's have another race someday," Ruby suggested, hopping happily. Tommy nodded, "I'd like that, Ruby. Maybe next time, we can race to the berry bush."
As the sun began to set, Ruby and Tommy walked home together, feeling proud of each other. They talked about new adventures and even planned a picnic for all their friends. The day had taught them a wonderful lesson about persistence and friendship, and they knew that there would always be more fun ahead.
