Danny was a cheerful boy, but today he felt heavy. At school, his friends laughed and played. "Hey Danny, want to join us?" shouted Mike. Danny sighed, "I don't feel like it today." He looked down, wishing he could change how he looked.
In class, everyone was busy with their work. Danny tried hard to focus, but the whispers around him made it hard. "Look at Danny, he’s so big!" a girl giggled. Danny felt a lump in his throat and wished the floor would swallow him up.
During recess, he sat alone on a swing. It swayed back and forth, but inside, his heart felt still. Danny remembered how he loved playing soccer. "Why can't I always feel happy?" he wondered as he looked at the kids playing without him.
Suddenly, a small girl named Lily approached him. "Why are you sitting here?" she asked with her bright blue eyes. "Everyone else is playing!" Danny shrugged, "They don’t want me to join. I’m too big." Lily frowned and said, "That's silly! Come play with us!"
Danny hesitated but decided to give it a try. As they walked to the field, he thought, "Maybe I can have fun!" The other kids cheered when they saw him. "Danny, you’re here!" shouted Mike. Danny smiled for the first time today.
The game started, and Danny ran. His heart raced with joy. He kicked the ball and actually scored! "Yay, Danny!" his friends cheered. For that moment, he forgot all his worries. "Maybe I can do this!" he thought, feeling lighter than air.
After the game, Danny sat with his friends. They were all sweaty and happy. Mike patted his back, "Great job, buddy! You helped us win!" Danny laughed, "Thanks! I thought I’d never play again!" The warmth of friendship surrounded him, chasing his sadness away.
Lily smiled at him, "You’re not just big; you’re so strong! You helped us all!" Danny's heart swelled with pride. "Really?" he asked, his eyes wide. "Yep! You belong with us, Danny!" she said, giving him a high-five.
From that day on, Danny never felt sad about being different. He learned to love himself and knew his friends loved him too. Happiness bubbled in his heart, and he always remembered: being unique was a superpower!
And when the bell rang at the end of the day, Danny skipped out of school. His friends laughed, and he shouted, "I’m Danny, the champion!" He felt lighter than ever, filled with joy and friendship.
