It's Saturday, a day filled with excitement! "Dad, is today camel racing day?" I ask eagerly, bouncing on my toes. "Yes! Get ready!" he replies, his eyes sparkling with joy as we head to the sandy raceground under the brilliant sun. The air buzzes with cheers from families gathered all around, and I can hardly wait to watch the camels race.
We arrive and find a sea of brown camels with long, flowing hair. They chat softly with their trainers, their big eyes blinking curiously. Among them, I spot a particularly cute camel with long legs and gentle eyes. "Does your camel run fast?" I ask a friendly boy nearby. "Yes, she does! Her name is Farha!" he beams with pride.
As the race begins, I sit next to Dad, our hearts thumping with excitement. The sound of the announcer's voice fills the air, "And they’re off!" The camels sprint forward, kicking up clouds of dust. Farha races alongside the others, her powerful legs moving gracefully. “Go Farha, go!” I yell, clapping my hands in delight.
But suddenly, Farha stops in the middle of the race! My heart sinks. “Why did she stop?” I wonder aloud, anxiously looking at Dad. He shrugs, but I know I have to do something to help her win. An idea flashes in my mind like a bright lightbulb.
“Wait here!” I shout to Dad as I hop on my bike, quick as a wink. I remember I have a juicy peach in my bag. I pedal swiftly towards Farha, the sweet fruit promising a tasty treat. The other camels hoot and holler as they zoom past, but all I care about is Farha!
When I reach Farha, I hold out the peach. “Look, Farha!” I call out, waving the fruit in front of her. Her big eyes widen, and just like that, she starts running again! She dashes after the peach, her long legs speeding like the wind. My heart fills with joy as I cheer her on!
“Go, Farha! You can do it!” I shout, pedaling beside her. The spectators gasp, some jump out of their seats. I can feel the excitement building! My voice is lost in the shouts of the crowd as Farha powers through. She’s gaining on the leaders, and I can hardly believe my eyes!
And just as the finish line comes into view, Farha gives it her all! With one powerful leap, she dashes ahead of the other camels. The crowd erupts into cheers, and I feel like I could float in the air! Farha crosses the finish line first!
I hug the peach close as I chant, “Well done, Farha! You did it!” I rush to her and gently give her the peach. She munches happily, her tail flicking with delight. Dad smiles wide, his laughter ringing in my ears. “You two make a great team!”
As we leave the race, I can’t stop talking about the day. “Next time, we’ll do it again!” I say to Dad, and he nods, excitement sparkling in his eyes. Saturday has never been sweeter!
The Great Camel Race was a day I’ll always remember, with laughter, friendship, and the sweetest victory.
