One sunny day, there was a boy named Timmy. Timmy sat alone on a swing and looked very sad. "Why do you look so glum, Timmy?" asked his friend Lucy, skipping by. "I lost my smile," Timmy replied with a sigh, pushing his feet in the sand. Lucy thought for a moment and said, "Let’s find it together!"
Off they went, looking high and low. They searched under the big maple tree and even inside the school. "I can’t find it anywhere," said Timmy, feeling sad again. Lucy smiled and said, "Don’t worry, Timmy. Maybe we can make a new one!
They decided to play games. First, they played tag. Timmy chased Lucy, and for a moment, he felt light as a feather. "You’re it!" he shouted, giggling. Lucy squealed and ran away, and Timmy chased her with joy! But still, his smile was missing. It was a tricky game to win.
Next, they tried jumping rope. Lucy twirled the rope while Timmy jumped in. "One, two, three!" they counted together. Timmy jumped high, feeling proud. "Look at me, Lucy!" he cheered. But after the game, Timmy still didn’t smile. His heart felt heavy again.
Then, they sat down under the sun, and Lucy had an idea. "Timmy, let’s tell funny stories!" She began, "One day, a cat wore a hat and danced like this!" Lucy wiggled her body, making Timmy giggle. He put his hands over his mouth to stop the laughter from pouring out.
"Your turn!" Lucy said. Timmy wanted to share a story, but he felt shy. But Lucy encouraged him, "You can do it! Just like the cat!" This made Timmy feel brave. He began, "There was a bear who wanted to hug everyone!" Lucy laughed even harder.
The sun started to sink in the sky, painting it orange and pink. Timmy looked around and said, "This is the best day ever!" Suddenly, a big smile appeared on his face. He found his smile! It sparkled like the stars coming out in the evening sky.
Lucy clapped her hands with joy. "See, Timmy? You had a smile all along! You just needed to let it out!" Timmy jumped up and down. "Thank you, Lucy! You made me happy again!" They hugged, feeling warm inside.
From that day on, Timmy knew that no matter how sad he felt, he could always find his smile. Sometimes it just took a friend to help him see the brighter side of things.
