Henny Penny was a little chicken, happy and bright. One day an acorn fell from a tree with a thud and gave her a fright! "Oh no! The sky is falling!" she cried with a shout. She decided to go tell the king without a doubt.
On her way, she met a duck named Dilly. "Henny, what's wrong?" asked Dilly, looking silly. "The sky is falling!" Henny said with a frown. "Join me, dear Dilly, let’s go to the town!"
So off they went, with a waddle and giddy, when they met a goose, named Gabby, so pretty. "What’s all the fuss?" Gabby asked them with glee. "The sky is falling, come quickly, you’ll see!"
Next they found a squirrel, named Sammy in a tree, munching on nuts, happy as can be. "What’s going on?" Sammy asked with a twitch. "The sky is falling!" they said, in a pitch!
Sammy jumped down and said with a grin, "Let’s find the king, let’s begin!" They ran through the woods, all in a hurry, their hearts beat fast, feeling a bit blurry.
Finally, they saw the king, sitting high in his chair. "Dear king! Oh dear! You must be aware!" Henny Penny shouted, with her friends all in line, "The sky is falling! We think it’s a sign!"
The king chuckled softly, his eyes full of grace. "Oh Henny, dear Chicken, let me show you a place. The sky is up there, it won’t fall down today. An acorn can’t hurt you; don’t worry, okay?"
Henny Penny felt silly and started to laugh. "I guess I should listen, and not be so daft!" Dilly, Gabby, and Sammy joined in her cheer, they learned that together, they had nothing to fear.
So they danced and they played, with the king by their side. They celebrated friendship, with laughter and pride. Henny Penny learned a lesson that day, to think for herself and not run away!
Now when you hear a thud, or a loud boisterous sound, remember Henny Penny and her friends all around. Don't panic or worry or haste on your way. Think for yourself, and you’ll be okay!
