Once in a castle grand, there lived a mouse named Despereaux. He had big ears, a small frame, and a heart filled with dreams. Despereaux was different; he loved stories, especially tales of knights and princesses. Every night, he would listen to the sounds of the castle and dream of adventure and light.

One day, Despereaux heard whispers of a beautiful princess named Pea. Her smile was bright, and her laughter echoed like music through the halls. He felt a spark in his heart, a feeling like no other. He wanted to meet her, and to do that, he would need to be brave and bold.
