In a small, cozy mouse hole, a mouse named Max felt very scared. "What is that noise?" he squeaked. His friends, Lucy the rabbit and Benny the bird, listened closely. "It’s just the wind," said Lucy, shaking her head. But Max wasn't sure. He peeked out of the hole and saw shadows dancing outside.
The shadows were tall, and Max's heart raced. "I don’t want to go out there!" he cried. Benny flapped his wings. "But what if it's just a friend? Maybe it's friendly!" Lucy agreed. Max took a deep breath. He had to be brave. "Okay, I'll look!" he squeaked, trembling a bit more.
Max took a tiny step out of the hole, and the world seemed big and scary. The tall grass swayed, and the leaves rustled in the breeze. "Wow! It looks different from here!" he thought. He wanted to run back inside, but he needed to find out what the shadows were.
As he stepped further out, a big shadow appeared in front of him. Max froze! The shadow moved closer, and he squeaked loudly. But then he heard a soft voice. "Hi there! Don't be afraid! It’s just me, Gary the gentle giraffe!" Max felt a bit better.
Phew! Max sighed in relief. "You scared me!" he admitted. Gary smiled down at him. "I didn’t mean to! I was just trying to play hide and seek with my friends!" Max's eyes lit up. "Can I play too?" he asked.
Benny chirped from the tree, "Yes! Come on, Max! This will be fun!" Lucy hopped excitedly. Max felt a spark of courage. Maybe the outside world wasn’t so scary after all! He looked at Gary. "Okay, let's play!" They all cheered and began to run around.
The friends played in the soft grass, hiding and seeking between the flowers. Max giggled as Gary reached high to look for him. "I’m so high up!" Gary exclaimed, laughing. Max felt happy being brave and having fun! He forgot all about being scared.
As the sun began to set, Max sat with his friends. "I was scared at first, but I’m glad I came out!" he said with a big smile. Lucy nodded. "You were very brave, Max!" Benny flapped his wings in agreement, looking proud.
Max promised himself to never let fear keep him from adventure again. He looked at the shimmering stars above and felt warm inside. "I can be brave!" he declared, looking at his friends. They all smiled back, knowing they would always support each other.
From that day on, Max enjoyed every adventure with Lucy and Benny. Together, they explored their world, making new friends and memories. And whenever they heard a strange noise, Max would say, "Let’s find out what it is together!" They would laugh and cheer, ready for more fun.
