Once there was a young boy who was a shepherd. He watched over his sheep in a green meadow. The sun was bright, and the sky was blue. He liked to play and laugh with the sheep.
One day, he thought it would be funny to shout, 'Wolf! Wolf!' He wanted to see the villagers run. The villagers rushed to help, but there was no wolf! He laughed and laughed.
The next day, he did it again. 'Wolf! Wolf!' he cried. The villagers came running once more. They were angry when they found out he was fooling them. The boy just grinned.
Then, one sunny day, a real wolf came. The boy yelled, 'Wolf! Wolf!' but this time, the villagers did not believe him. They thought he was tricking them again.
The wolf scared the sheep and took one away. The boy felt sad. He lost a sheep because he did not tell the truth. He learned that it was important to be honest.
When the villagers came later, he told them what happened. They saw his sad face. 'We believed you were playing again,' they said.
From that day on, the boy promised to always tell the truth. He did not want to lose his sheep or his friends. The sun still shined, but he was now a different boy.
Every day, he took good care of his sheep. He watched them closely and never lied again. The villagers praised him for being honest and brave.
One evening, he sat with the sheep and told them, 'I will always protect you. No more tricks!' The sheep bleated happily and nuzzled against him.
The boy learned that honesty is the best way. It brings trust and friendship. The meadow was green and bright, and so was his heart.
