Once upon a time, there was a little red hen. She lived on a sunny farm. The hen loved to bake bread. She wanted to make yummy bread for everyone to share. But she could not do it alone. She needed help!
The hen asked her friends, a lazy dog, a sleepy cat, and a slow pig. "Will you help me plant some wheat?" she asked. The dog just yawned. The cat stretched and said, "No, thank you." The pig rolled over and grunted, "Not now!"
The little red hen sighed and planted the wheat all by herself. She watered it and made sure it grew tall. Days passed, and soon, the grains of wheat were golden and ready. The hen was very proud!
Next, the hen wanted to harvest the wheat. "Will you help me?" she asked her friends again. The dog barked and ran away. The cat curled up to take a nap. The pig just snorted and lay there. It was all up to the hen once more.
So, the little red hen harvested the wheat. She carried it to the mill and ground it into flour. It was hard work, but she was very determined. Soon, she had a big bag of flour!
Now, it was time to bake bread. The hen called out again, "Will you help me mix and bake?" The dog was busy chasing a butterfly. The cat was still sleeping. The pig was rolling in the mud. The hen was alone again.
But the little red hen did not give up. She mixed the flour, water, and yeast. She kneaded the dough and put it in the oven to bake. The smell filled the air, and it was wonderful!
Soon, the bread was ready! It was golden and warm. The little red hen laid the bread on the table. The lazy dog, the sleepy cat, and the slow pig woke up. They sniffed the air and said, "Wow, that smells good!"
The hen smiled and said, "Who will help me eat this yummy bread?" The three friends jumped up, eager to eat. But the hen shook her head and said, "No, I did all the work!"
The little red hen enjoyed her tasty bread all by herself. She learned that hard work pays off and that teamwork is very important. Her friends watched and learned a lesson about helping others, too.
