The Flag Hunt

It was a sunny morning, and the children were buzzing with excitement. "I can't wait!" shouted Lucy, her eyes sparkling. "We’re going to find all the flags today!" Austin nodded, clutching his backpack full of snacks. Their teacher, Mrs. White, gathered everyone around. "Remember, it's not just about the flags. You must clean up after yourselves!"

Mrs. White explained the rules, waving her hands. "You will find flags at different spots in the forest. Make sure to clean all trash along the way!" The children nodded enthusiastically. Lucy whispered to Austin, "Let’s rush to the lake first. I know we’ll find something there!"

The yellow team sprinted toward the lake, where the sun danced on the water. "Look, a flag!" Austin shouted, pointing at the bright blue flag sticking out of the reeds. Excited, they giggled and decided, “Let’s go to the cave next!" Meanwhile, the blue team wandered toward the waterfall, their spirits high.

As Jose and Sarah trekked to the waterfall, they laughed and joked. "Look! A flag!" Jose exclaimed, spotting the red flag behind a rock. They were thrilled. “Let’s climb the hill next!" Sarah said, but they didn't see that her backpack was slightly unzipped, hiding a small mess.

Up the hill they climbed, admiring the view. Suddenly, Sarah stopped. “Oh no! My trash!” she cried, spotting wrappers scattered on the ground. "We have to pick it up!" Jose nodded seriously. They quickly gathered the trash, making sure to leave no trace behind.

After hours of searching, the teams returned to Mrs. White, who smiled at their enthusiasm. "The yellow team found four flags! You win today's flag hunt!" The children cheered joyfully, but Lucy noticed something.

She turned to her friends and said, "Wait! We have more flags than just us!" She rushed to Mrs. White, her heart racing. "Here, take one of our flags! We saw that Jose and Sarah picked up all their trash even though they couldn’t finish!"

“Thank you!” said Jose and Sarah in delight, their faces glowing with happiness. Mrs. White clapped her hands. “You all did a wonderful job! Remember, it’s not just about winning, but helping one another,” she encouraged.
