Percy was a little penguin. He lived on a snowy, cold island. Today was a special day. It was his first swimming lesson! Percy was nervous. What if he couldn’t swim like the others?
“Don’t worry, Percy!” said Ellie the seal. She had big, friendly eyes and a shiny, wet nose. “I will help you!” Percy smiled but still felt scared. He looked at the deep blue water and shivered.
Toby the whale swam by. He was big and strong. His voice boomed like thunder. “You can do it, Percy! Just think of swimming like gliding on ice!” Percy felt a little better. He nodded at his friends.
“Okay! Let’s start,” said Ellie. She jumped into the water. Splash! The waves danced around her. “Come on, Percy! The water is nice and cool!” Percy took a deep breath and waddled closer.
Percy dipped his toes in the water. It was chilly but not too scary. He closed his eyes and pictured himself swimming fast like a fish. “I can do this,” he whispered. Then, he jumped in!
The water was refreshing! “You did it, Percy!” cheered Ellie. Percy looked up and saw Toby smiling. He was floating nearby, looking proud. “Swim with me!” he called.
Percy kicked his little feet. He splashed and paddled, feeling braver. As he swam, he saw colorful fish darting around. They were like little rainbows in the water. Percy giggled with joy. He was swimming!
“See? You’re a great swimmer!” Ellie clapped her flippers. Percy felt proud. “Thank you for believing in me!” he said. He looked at his friends, feeling happy and brave.
After the lesson, they all played in the water. They splashed and dove together, laughing loudly. Percy realized he loved swimming. He was no longer nervous.
Percy, Ellie, and Toby swam back to the shore. Percy smiled wide. “I can be brave! With friends by my side, I can do anything!”
