In a sunny meadow, where flowers bloom bright, Lived an ant who worked with all of his might. He gathered up food, seeds, and a few grains, With tiny strong legs, he felt no pains.
The grasshopper danced with a song in his heart, He leaped through the grass, playing his part. He laughed and he sang, with no worries at all, The ant called to him, 'Winter will soon call!
But the grasshopper laughed, 'Oh, why should I care? There's food all around, and sunshine to share!' The ant shook his head, as he worked through the day, 'It's wise to prepare, don’t let fun lead you away!'
Time passed quickly, as summer did fade. The grasshopper saw that his song became swayed. He shivered and trembled, as snowflakes fell down, While the ant in his home, felt cozy and sound.
He watched as the ant had a feast and a cheer, With food stored aplenty, no reason to fear. The grasshopper pondered, 'Oh, what have I done? I danced through the summer, now winter's begun!
Then he knocked on the door, feeling lonely and sad, 'Dear ant, could you share? Oh, I wish I had planned!' The ant opened wide, his heart filled with grace, 'You can learn from this now, let’s not rush the pace.'
'See, my friend, there are times when we work, And times when we play, yet we must not shirk. Responsibility comes with a price we must pay, So let's find a new balance, come what may.'
The grasshopper nodded, with a newfound thought, He thanked the good ant for the lesson he brought. Together they planned, to have fun and to save, For both sunny days and the cold winter cave.
So in that fine meadow, with sun shining bright, The ant and the grasshopper learned to unite. They danced and they worked, side by side every day, And found joy in both labor and fun, here to stay!
And if you should wander, through meadows so wide, Remember the lessons that the ant did not hide. Plan for tomorrow, but don’t forget to sing, For life is a balance of both work and spring!
