Once, in a land far away, there were many kingdoms. The kingdoms were divided, and they did not work together. The knights from the West came with their shields and swords. They marched toward the warm lands, ready to conquer, but the kings were busy fighting each other.
In the East, the mighty Seljuks were strong but worried. They had to protect the mountains from the fierce Afghans. Their eyes looked one way, while the enemies came from the other. The land was big, and they couldn’t see all its corners at once.
The creeping shadows of the West came closer. The knights found friends among the people. The kind Orthodox and Armenian folks offered help. With strong ships from Venice, the knights sailed across the sparkling sea, ready to take over.
One by one, the cities fell to the knights. Tripoli, Beirut, Aleppo, and Tyre! The kings in the East did not think the knights were a real threat. They thought the knights were just another team looking for power. They were too busy fighting each other.
Meanwhile, in Egypt, the rulers played games of thrones. A young boy named Abu Ali took the crown thanks to the tricky vizier named al Afdal. But when he grew strong, he wanted revenge. The story in Egypt was full of power struggles, leading to chaos in the land.
