The Flying Dreams of Kwezi

Kwezi was a young boy in Rwanda. He loved to dream big! Every morning, he would run out and shout, "I want to fly! I want to soar high!" His friends laughed and said, "Kwezi, we cannot fly like birds!" But Kwezi believed they could if they worked together. He said, "Let’s build a big kite!" They all cheered, and together they collected colorful cloth, old sticks, and string.

With their big kite ready, Kwezi and his friends ran to the hill. "Here we go!" he shouted. They held the kite high and felt the wind. Kwezi closed his eyes and imagined flying above the trees, over the rivers, and through the clouds. “I can see the whole village!” he laughed. The kite flew higher and higher, and the friends danced in joy, feeling like they were flying too. They learned that together, they could make their dreams come true.

As the sun began to set, painting the sky with orange and pink, Kwezi and his friends lay on the grassy hill, watching their kite dance among the stars. "Look at our kite go!" said Kwezi, pointing at the twinkling sky. "It's as if the stars are cheering for us!" His friends giggled and agreed, their eyes wide with wonder and excitement. They felt proud and happy, knowing they had made their dreams take flight.

Just then, Kwezi had an idea. "Let's name our kite!" he exclaimed. His friends clapped their hands and shouted, "Yes! Yes!" After thinking hard, Kwezi said, "Let's call it 'Imana's Wing,' because it flies so high and strong!" They all agreed it was the perfect name, and they laughed and played until the stars blinked brightly above them.

Finally, it was time to head home. "We may not have wings, but we have dreams," Kwezi said with a smile, holding the kite gently. His friends nodded, feeling the warmth of friendship in their hearts. They promised to come back to the hill and let 'Imana's Wing' soar again. As they walked back, they knew that with each kite flight, their dreams would always have the sky to reach for.
