In a lush forest lived Polly, a bright green and yellow parrot. Polly loved to talk! She chatted with the trees, the flowers, and all the animals. Her voice echoed through the woods, bringing joy and laughter.
One sunny morning, Polly flew to the big old oak tree. "Hello, Mr. Owl! Do you want to hear a funny joke?" she squawked excitedly. Mr. Owl, wise and calm, smiled and nodded. Polly told her joke, and they both burst out laughing.
Later, Polly met Benny the Bunny. "Benny! Did you know that squirrels hide their acorns in the ground?" she chattered. Benny twitched his nose and replied, "Yes, Polly! But did you know that they sometimes forget where they planted them?" Polly gasped, delighted by his response.
As Polly continued her day of chatting, she overheard some birds gossiping. "The fox stole my lunch!" chirped Stella, a tiny sparrow. Polly, anxious to help, squawked out loud, "I know who took it! It was Benny!" But she hadn't listened carefully and got it all wrong.
Benny heard Polly’s mistake and his ears drooped. "I didn’t take anything, Polly!" he said sadly. Polly realized her mix-up caused confusion among her friends. The chatter among the birds turned into whispers of worry.
Feeling guilty, Polly decided to find Benny and apologize. She flew through the trees with her heart racing. When she spotted Benny munching on a carrot, she landed beside him. "Benny, I’m so sorry! I didn’t listen. Can we talk?" she pleaded.
Benny looked up, surprised by her sincerity. "Of course, Polly! I appreciate you coming to me! It was just a misunderstanding," he said gently. Polly felt a wave of relief wash over her.
Polly invited Benny to meet the other animals. She wanted to clarify her mistake and make things right. Benny agreed, and together they approached the gathering animals. Polly stood tall, ready to speak clearly this time.
"Everyone! I made a mistake, and I want to apologize. Benny didn’t take Stella's food, I mixed it up while chatting!" she squawked. The animals listened carefully as she explained, and they appreciated her honesty.
After that day, Polly learned to listen more and talk a bit less. She understood that her words could impact her friends and the forest. Polly was still chatty, but now she made sure to hear her friends first before squawking out loud.
