In a sunny field, there lived a fast hare. The hare loved to brag about how quickly he could run. He would boast, "I am the fastest! No one can beat me!" One day, the tortoise, who was slow but steady, said, "I can race you!" The hare laughed and accepted the challenge.
The race was set for the next day in the bright, green meadow. Animals gathered to cheer for both. The hare was full of confidence, wiggling his ears and jumping with joy. The tortoise smiled gently, ready and calm, knowing he could try his best.
On the big day, the sun shone bright. The animals gathered, excited for the sight. 'On your mark, get set, go!' shouted the owl. The tortoise walked slowly while the hare dashed ahead with a loud howl.
The hare ran so fast, he left the tortoise far behind. "I am so quick!" he thought, feeling very proud. After a while, he looked back and saw the tortoise not near, so he decided to take a nap without fear.
The tortoise kept walking, step by step, slow and sure. He focused on the race, his victory was pure. As he moved steadily, he passed the sleeping hare, moving closer and closer to the finish, unaware of the snare.
Hours went by, and the hare woke up with a yawn. The sun was setting, and the race was almost gone! He dashed ahead, but to his surprise, he saw the tortoise cross the line with wide-open eyes.
The animals cheered, “Hooray for the tortoise! He won fair and square! The hare, who was fast, was not even there!” The tortoise smiled and said with a grin, "Slow and steady helps you win!"
Feeling down, the hare sighed and said, “I was too proud, I didn’t try hard. I should learn not to be a boastful bard.” The tortoise replied, “It’s okay, my friend. Next time, let’s race again, till the very end!
From that day on, the hare ran with care, he trained every day and learned to prepare. The tortoise and hare became good mates, always cheering each other, never debating fates.
This story shows us all, we should not be too proud. Working together makes us strong, that’s what it’s all about! So, whether you are fast or slow, just keep moving and learn to grow!
