Once upon a time, there were three clever billy goats. They had fluffy fur and great big horns. They wanted to cross a bridge to reach a green meadow. The meadow was full of sweet grass to munch. But there was a troll under the bridge, big and scary!
The first goat, Tippy, said, 'I will cross the bridge first!' He was the smallest of the three. He was brave, but a bit worried. As he stepped on the bridge, the troll roared, 'Who's that tripping on my bridge?'
Tippy replied, 'It's only me, just a little goat! You are too big to eat me, wait for my brother!' The troll thought for a moment and let Tippy pass. 'I will wait for the bigger goat,' he grumbled.
Next, it was time for Billy, the middle goat. He trotted onto the bridge, feeling bold. The bridge creaked and the troll shouted again, 'Who's that stomping on my bridge?' Billy said, 'It's just me, don’t be unkind! You’ll want to eat my bigger brother behind.'
The troll rubbed his chin and let Billy go, thinking the bigger goat would be tasty too! Billy dashed across the bridge to join Tippy in the meadow, excited for the grass that awaited them.
Finally, it was time for Gruff, the eldest goat. He was strong with a mighty roar. He walked to the bridge, proud and tall. The troll yelled, 'Who's that stomping on my bridge?' Gruff answered, 'It’s me, the biggest goat of all!'
The troll licked his lips, ready to feast, 'I think I will eat you for my feast!' Gruff stomped his hooves and said, 'You won’t be able to catch me at all! If you try, you will surely fall!'
The troll laughed, 'You think you’re clever, but I’m big and strong!' Gruff replied, 'I may be smaller, but I’m wise and belong!' Suddenly, Gruff charged forward, fearless and bold.
With a great heave, Gruff charged right at the troll! The troll was taken by surprise and stumbled back, losing his balance. With one big push, Gruff sent him flying, crashing into the stream below. The troll tumbled and rolled, splashing water all around!
The three billy goats crossed the bridge and danced in the soft meadow. They munched on sweet grass, feeling proud and free. They outsmarted the beast and brought joy to their day. And from that day on, they lived happily, munching and playing away.
