The Dog and the Wolf

Once upon a time, a hungry Wolf met a friendly Dog. "Hello, Cousin!" said the Dog. "Why do you look so thin? You should get a job like mine, where food is easy!" The Wolf shook his head and said, "I want a nice meal, but I can’t find work. Will you help me?" The Dog wagged his tail and smiled, "Come with me! My master will share food with you too!"

As they walked, the Wolf noticed something strange. He said, "Why is your neck all worn out?" The Dog replied, "Oh, that’s just my collar! I wear it at night, and it keeps me chained. But it's okay, I’m used to it!" The Wolf frowned and said, "No, thank you! Better to be free and hungry than a fat slave!" With that, the Wolf turned and ran into the forest.

The Dog watched as the Wolf disappeared among the trees. He felt a little sad but understood the Wolf's choice. So, he trotted back home, happy to have his warm bed and a full bowl waiting for him. The Dog thought about the freedom the Wolf had chosen and wondered what it would be like, but he knew he loved the comfort of his home too much to leave.

Meanwhile, the Wolf ran until he reached a cool, clear stream deep in the forest. He took a big drink and lay down under a shady tree. The Wolf listened to the birds singing and the wind rustling the leaves. As his stomach growled, he hoped he might find something to eat soon, but he felt glad to be free. He smiled, knowing he could explore wherever he wanted, any time he liked.

As the sun began to set, the Wolf’s belly was still empty, but his heart was light. He remembered the Dog’s collar and decided he would rather be a hungry, happy wolf than a well-fed dog tied up at night. The Wolf howled a song into the evening sky, feeling thankful for his freedom. And from that day on, he roamed the forest with joy, finding friends and surprises wherever he went.
