In a small town, there lived a boy named Max. Max had a loud voice and a big smile. "Hey! Listen to me!" he often shouted, even when others were speaking. His friends would roll their eyes, but Max didn't realize he was interrupting. One sunny day, at the park, his friend Sarah said, "I want to tell you about my puppy!" But Max interrupted, "Wait! I have a funny joke!"
As Sarah frowned, Lily tried to help. "Max, it's not polite to interrupt. Can you wait your turn?" Max blinked. He wanted to share his joke but also loved hearing stories. He thought, 'Maybe I can learn to be patient!' But it was hard. He said, "Oh, come on! It’s just a joke!"
Later, they played a game of tag. Max ran ahead, shouting, "I'm the best! I win!" But his friend Jake paused. "Max, we should cheer for each other!" he said as he caught his breath. Max scratched his head. He remembered when Sarah wanted to talk, and he felt a little bad. "Okay, I can cheer too!"
During snack time, they sat on the grass, munching on apples. Sarah began telling a story about her puppy again, but this time, Max interrupted as usual, "That sounds boring!" His friends looked at him with surprise. Lily said, "Max, manners matter. How would you feel if we were rude to you?"
Max thought for a moment. He squeezed the apple in his hand and said softly, "I guess I wouldn’t like it. Let me listen this time." He tried really hard to be quiet. Sarah smiled and began again, "My puppy loves to dig holes..."
As Sarah continued, she saw Max nodding. 'Wow, he really is listening!' she thought, feeling excited to share more. Max realized that her story was much better than his joke. After she finished, he clapped and said, “Wow, your puppy sounds amazing!"
Next, they decided to play another game, but this time, Max took a deep breath before speaking. “Hey, can I suggest a game?" Everyone looked at him with curiosity. Even though he was excited, he paused. "We can play hide and seek if you all want!"
Lily cheered, “That’s a great idea, Max! See? Waiting your turn is fun!” Max smiled, feeling proud. It was easier than he thought. They all shouted, “Let’s play!” while rushing off. Max felt happy sharing and making time for others.
As the day ended, Max walked home with a big smile. He thought about how listening felt good, and he hugged his mom. "I learned something today, Mom!" he exclaimed. She smiled and asked, "What was it, sweetie?" He replied, "Being a good friend means being a good listener too!"
From that day on, Max wasn’t just the boy who interrupts. He became the boy who listens and shares, making him everyone’s favorite friend! They all had fun, laughing together, telling stories, and cheering each other on. Manners made every game more exciting!
