Once upon a time, in a sunny field so bright, an ant worked hard from morning till night. She gathered food and stored it away, preparing for winter, come what may. The ant was small but oh, so wise, while a grasshopper played under sunny skies.
The grasshopper danced and sang all day long, he laughed at the ant and thought it was wrong, to work so hard while others played. "Why worry so much?" the grasshopper brayed. "Life is for fun! Let's joke and cheer!" and the ant shook her head, saying, "Winter is near!"
As the summer days slowly turned into fall, the ant filled her home, preparing for all. The grasshopper sang in the grass, carefree, as he saw the ant working busily. "One day, my friend, you will see I was right! Hard work pays off, especially at night!"
But the grasshopper laughed, his heart light and gay. "I will worry about that another day! Come dance with me, oh, why be so grim?" The ant kept on working, with her head held up high, never stopping, as the days passed by.
Then winter arrived, and the skies turned gray. The grasshopper shivered, with nothing to say. No food for his belly, no warmth for his home. He knocked on the ant's door, feeling so alone. "Let me in, dear friend, I was foolish, it's true! I should've prepared like you did too!"
The ant opened up with a furrowed brow. "Why should I help you? What will you do now? You laughed at my work and played all day long, while I stored away food, singing a different song!"
The grasshopper trembled, his voice soft and weak. "I see I was wrong, it was wisdom I seek. I won't make excuses, I just want to eat. Please, kind ant, help me; I admit my defeat!"
The ant thought for a moment, then with a sigh, she decided to share; she couldn't deny, that friendship was precious, even if one strayed, and she offered him warmth, a friend unafraid.
Together they shared what the ant had stored, the grasshopper thanked her, his heart truly soared. From that day onward, he worked hard each day, learning the value of planning the right way.
The ant and the grasshopper, a friendship so grand, worked side by side in the cheerful land. They danced and sang and harvested too, together they thrived, as all friendships do.
