Beauty is a Beast

In the heart of a grand castle, two sisters were having a lively chat. "Sister? Did you not learn your geography lessons?" asked Honor, the younger sister. "Who cares about stupid geography?" the Princess replied with a giggle. Honor continued, "Well, Acrime is the large kingdom east of here. Daddy says the kingdom is larger than ours!" The Princess gasped, her eyes wide. "Larger than ours?! Impossible! So why are you having a party for this prince?"

With a shy blush, Honor stayed silent. The Princess jumped in excitement. "Oh, I know! The party is for me! So I can meet Andres! And I spoiled the surprise. How horrible of me! But I will be sufficiently surprised when you introduce me!" Honor, still shy, attempted to speak, "Well, actually…" The Princess waved her hand. "I know you don't want me to lie, but it isn't really lying. We wouldn't want to disappoint Father!" Quickly, she dashed away, saying, "I must hurry and get on my most lovely dress! I want to look my best for our guest. Not that I don't always look my best! I know one can't improve on perfect beauty, but I shall try!" After she left, Honor frowned. "Actually, the party was for me," she mumbled before quietly exiting the room.

The castle was abuzz with preparations. Honor watched as colorful banners were hung, and tables were set with the finest silks and golden cutlery. Somewhere in the midst of the bustle, her heart fluttered with a mix of excitement and concern. What would her sister say when she found out the truth? Would she be hurt, or could it lead to laughter and understanding? Honor hoped for the latter, as she glanced at the grand clock ticking above the hall.

When the hour of the party arrived, the grand hall shimmered with candlelight, making every jewel and sequin sparkle like stars. Guests filled the room with laughter and chatter, the air buzzing with anticipation. The Princess entered, radiant and graceful, her gown a cascade of shimmering blue. Seeing Honor, she rushed over, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. "So, where is the mysterious Prince Andres?" she asked playfully, her confidence unshaken.

Honor took a deep breath. "Sister," she began, choosing her words carefully, "the party is for me to meet Prince Andres. Father thought it would be a good match." The Princess's eyes widened, then softened as she embraced her sister warmly. "Oh, Honor, you deserve this party! And perhaps our guest might have a brother for me," she added with a playful wink. Together, they giggled, understanding that beauty was more than appearance—it was found in the kindness and joy shared between them.
